My last year at CalArts was Ravi’s first as president, and there was definitely a big shift happening. Senior professors being pushed out and replaced with multiple adjuncts, budgets for creative work being slashed, and from what I hear it went completely off the rails after Covid.

Apparently, when Stanford was retiring their old (read: racist) mascot, they held a vote amongst the student body for what it’s replacement should be. Cardinal (the color) was chosen by the administration, because they thought the winner was too controversial: the Stanford Robber Barons.
