All that's left of my friend who died from covid just last year is his grieving parents, wife, children and the car he loved. That car took them on great trips but now it's sitting unused.

From reddit: "My Boss is Demanding I Come into Work While Still Testing Positive" Source: www.reddit.com/r/ZeroCovidC...
A screenshot of a Reddit post from the community r/ZeroCovidCommunity, posted by user "antisombart" with the flair "Need support!".
The bold title reads: "My Boss is Demanding I Come into Work While Still Testing Positive".
The body text explains that the user has contracted COVID-19 for the first time, testing positive 5 days ago and remaining positive. They express anxiety because they are an independent contractor working in events, producing a major sporting event in 8 days. Their boss is requiring them to come in the following day, despite them being sick and likely contagious. The user notes that the upcoming event week will require demanding 14+ hour days on their feet. They emphasize wanting to radically rest to avoid long COVID, but feel trapped because they cannot quit and no one else at the workplace masks or takes the virus seriously. The post concludes with a plea for advice or words of support due to high stress.

The UK is voting on the Assisted Dying bill today. Most disability organizations oppose it. Safeguards have already been removed or rejected. Please listen to disabled Canadians. What was meant to be dignified quickly became coercive eugenics aimed at the most vulnerable.

Many children of a certain age band (too young to be vaccinated before 2023) will now go through their entire adult life unvaccinated. Plenty of scientific evidence pointing to that being a truly dumb approach, likely costing more in poor health than the federal department’s “savings” ffs …

Woolies are still at it, lying about their specials. Crumpets were $2.30 or so before the fake price rise to $4.80. They don’t sell many that price but it creates a pent up demand for when prices return to 10c more that they used to be.
Golden crumpets at woolies with a special half price sticker that is slightly more than their usual price historically.

While in the hospital, Mum caught both #Covid and #flu from staff. These infections ultimately led to her death. The sense of injustice around her passing – the fact hospitals don't do enough to prevent the spread of infection – compound the loss, as many of you will understand only too well.

I’d like to remind everyone again about a phenomenon called “concomitant immunity”. It’s when you are somewhat resistant to new symptomatic infections… because you are already infected. With pathogens that cause chronic infection, this can happen, and it may explain some “hybrid immunity”.

Among Victorian children (0-17), BA.3.2.* was at 41% (n=7), vs 13% among adults (n=1), so a ~3X higher rate among children. That’s in the range seen in other countries/regions – AFAIK everywhere that reports Patient age and where BA.3.2.* is significant. 🧵
