The owner of coolwx.com has shut down the website in response to the arbitrary firing of NOAA employees (up to 10% of workforce) yesterday. #weather

February 27, 2025:
It takes thousands (if not more) of hard-working and passionate NOAA employees to collect, error-check, archive, assimilate, and utilize the data for modeling and forecasting
that are shown by this truly unique, popular and very long-running website.
Some of these pages have been running in various forms for 31 years.
I can no longer in good conscience keep this website updating from this point forward at the expense of thousands of (primarily younger) colleagues, friends, and students,
who were all fired February 27, 2025, arbitrarily and without cause.
Should future legal rulings change what happened that day, I will consider restarting the website.
Please note this hurts me as well, as I used this website every day for decades.
It's been a good run.

Quilted backpack in a terra cotta fabric with metallic copper fabric handle and straps. There’s a beige flap that shows when the bag is closed that’s been embroidered with the phrase “Well behaved copper ingot merchants seldom make history” in a vaguely cuneiform font. The backpack has cooper grommets near the top and a thin copper green shoelace has been threaded through them to keep the bag tied closed.

We have always relied on the oil and gas industry to self-report methane emissions. Now we have independent ways to of measuring those emissions and it turns out they were lying about the emissions. By a lot. The blue lines are actual measurements. The pink are industry numbers.
