Oh, lots of people have suddenly reappeared in my feed from many servers! I noticed a sudden quietness a few months ago and just assumed it was server blocks or people leaving. Regardless of the reason I'm glad they're back in my TL.

Hmmm, I put my Dr Pepper in front of the speaker playing Carter USM then drank it without thinking. I best stay away from DJs for a while.

Time between picking something up and carrying it towards the bin and said thing entering the bin: 5 mins. There were many side quests. ADHD is GM'ing my mundanity.

While I've never been comfortable with the term neurodivergent, tho it's a lot better than neuroundivergent - you poor slobs. I'd be happier with neuro-side-quester and neuro-main-quester, tho.

Out of nowhere I actually did some #GameDev this weekend. Ripped a prototype apart so I can rewire it together in a way that doesn't hamper progress. It's nice to feel like doing it again, and to feel like I made progress.

Multisystem 2 handheld! How did I miss this - shop.heber.co.uk/blog-news/the-mult…

The Multisystem2 Handheld Project
In May, Heber launched the Multisystem2 Handheld Project. Our aim for this is project is for it be an open innovation design and development effort to produce a fully MiSTerFPGA compatible handheld gaming system - with the involvement of the retro gaming community from initial prototype into production Our first step was to figure out a way to successfully drive an LCD screen directly from the MiSTer FPGA framework. We then made a number of fun prototype handhelds based on off-the-shelf components, modules and screens. We always wanted to make something you could actually buy, and that met our high standards here at Heber. We decided to make the handheld console injection moulded so we enlisted the industrial design services of Relay Industries to help us with this.   Jono and Rich from Relay, also based in Stroud, helped us understand the challenges and benefits of designing electronics for the injection moulding process. Working with Relay we started on some concept ideas and 'block models' to help inform design language and check for a comfortable design layout. We released all these ideas in a launch video with Neil from The Cave Museum. We had some really great feedback on our first update, a lot of which was included in the next designs steps. In our next video update, we introduced three concept designs: Once again, we got some great constructive and helpful feedback on the design and our plans for interchangeable control pads. Our aim is for the changeable control pads to be a really unique aspect, allowing people to play however they want to. We then started to manufacture the first PCB samples here in the UK, which allowed Relay to finalise some of the design specifics which allow for the PCB to fit. Or latest update shows a fully working prototype in a 3D printed case. This was a really exciting milestone to get to. We also revealed the Multisystem2 Dock which can be used for charging, communication, connection to larger screens via HDMI. The dock also has network ports, audio and scart connectors and extra USB connectors, along with cartridge ports for our SNAC adapters. We’re keen to keep up the pace with design and development, while continuing to engage with our potential customers. The whole team is really excited to be working on this open innovation project, and we’re enjoying working with Relay and the expertise of Jono and Rich. Rich from Relay posted a brilliant update here. We can’t wait to have the final product in our hands!

Love my new boots <3
A photo of a pair of Dr Martens boots with an excessive amount of lacing points all over the place. The default black laces have been replaced with neon green on the right boot and neon orange on the left. There are legs in the boots, mine.

I've not used Debian as a desktop distro before. Plenty of others, and on servers, just not Debian desktop. Usually picking Ubuntu due to its non-free hardware support. But as my 12th gen intel lappy feels a bit sluggish under Ubuntu I thought I'd give it a try. It's not pushy, at all. It's […]

Why am I so excited about getting a #SteamMachine? Because it fits my gaming lifestyle so well. I've been gaming for years with a Steam Deck plugged into the TV in the lounge. It's tiny, it's quiet, it works... but it could do with a bit more ooomph. The Steam Machine hits that spot precisely […]

I've had decades to think about the form of the destructor but, due to childhood programming, I just can't not choose Kitten Kong.
Still from The Goodies episode Kitten Kong showing a giant white floofy kitten destroying London. Three men with their backs to us, The Goodies, are in the foreground facing the kitten. Two are in nightwear, one is formally dressed. One is possibly armed with a windscreen wiper. Posturally they don't seem confident.
