Wall Street is retreating from DEI, as programs once meant for minorities and women are now open to all. One ex-exec says she’s had white women ask what opportunities their sons will have if Wall Street focuses on promoting underrepresented groups

A few years back I coded an algorithm to compute daily surface melt in Antarctica from microwave sat. data. The NSIDC adopted the code but it isn't live yet. Until then, I created my own "Antarctica Today" app that'll auto-post replies to this thread. Daily surface melt extent w/ a 1-day lag. 🧪⚒️🌍
Daily Antarctic surface melt on Sat December 16, 2023.

Is the community of 🌊 level projection experts too accustomed to working with the scraps off the 💰 agency tables? I firmly believe that if the right 👀 can see how insufficient sea level projections are, the money will come. $20M won't be too much to ask. Let's 💭 big! What's our dream ask?!??😎 1/

I keep reading these weird "takes" that talk about adaptation and mitigation like they are a binary choice and one is good and one is bad.  The reality is that adaptation and mitigation exist on a spectrum and often reinforce each other. 1/

The little understood reason for Minneapolis's surge in new housing is not the triplex legalization (which has actually not worked very well due to policy design issue) but removing parking mandates for apartments, which made a ton of projects suddenly pencil. Strong parking reform did this.

In a new essay, @jeffcorbin.bsky.social, Meg Duffy, @carlyziter.bsky.social and I talk about the urgent need to move beyond "it's real, it's bad, it's us" approaches to climate education, instead sharing pathways to climate action that engage and empower, while fighting the immobility of despair.
