@futurebird I remember a similar logic example in my college math and logic course: All poodles are dogs but not all dogs are poodles. This is for set theory of course but may also help explain the converse in a discussion of logical fallacies

Everyone, I have a suggestion: New Skill November. #NewSkillNovember
NEW SKILL NOVEMBER

[an art nouveau painting in autumn colors of a woman playing the harp]

LEARN A NEW SKILL OR REBUILD AN OLD ONE; THE ONLY RULE: DO IT YOURSELF, DO NOT USE AI

Sketching, knitting, whittling, a musical instrument, a foreign language, a tricky video game, cooking, weaving, changing oil, riding a bike, painting, pixel art, website design, digital image editing, bookbinding, calligraphy, identifying mushrooms, embroidery, soldering, that one thing you've been putting off

Do the hard part yourself, no matter how imperfect it feels. Learn and internalize how it really works. Consult guides written by human experts, and ask your fellow human beings for help. Take pride in knowledge and abilities that are an intrinsic part of your existence and not dependent on renting from corporations.

Boycotting Green Day after they insulted the MAGA agenda. Punk rock should NOT be political. Punk rock is about and has ALWAYS been about the following: -respecting cops. -upholding the patriarchy. -saluting the flag, standing for the national anthem, and unconditionally supporting the military.

So I learned today that the film The Bicentennial Man (1999) is based on an #IsaacAsimov short story by the same name and I can't believe I didn't see it before, the entire plot just has #Asimov written all over it! It's paced like an Asimov work, the philosophical questions it poses, explores […]

@dangillmor #modelrailroad circles have been acutely aware of this given how model railroads are generally built on plywood and foam bases, involve a lot of copper wiring to keep it all running nicely and one of the top manufacturers (Kato) is Japanese. There's also only 5 major manufacturers […]

I might have my first DNF #book in a while. The Word Exchange by Alena Graedon. It's honestly quite good but there's very surreal moments which I struggle to suspend my disbelief for, moments where the main character does something incredibly silly for someone who's as smart as they are, and […]
