The Sisters Of Mercy Goth Performance
Alt: Clip from the music video to "Walk Away" by The Sisters of Mercy. Andrew Eldritch postures as the rest of the band roll past him on some kind of conveyer belt. My impression was always that Eldritch was going backwards past them but I'm not sure

THREAD. A collection of excellent scarecrows I have met on walks in the countryside. You will find the all-important caption to each photo in the alt text.

A lot has bothered me about the reporting of the Kanye West banned. Firstly how it has been framed as all about it the Jewish community - but we should all be against Nazism! This country fought Nazis. Songs called Heil Hitler should not just be for the Jewish community to object to. And secondly…

I'm compiling a handy thread of things that you really, REALLY should not say in response to this tweet. 1) "Has Matt Lucas said anything on Israel?" No, as it happens. But what if he had? Does that give you the right to try and goad a Jewish celeb in public & then upload your video to socials?
Some prick is crying about the fact that he harassed a Jewish celeb on the Underground 'for Palestine', uploaded it to social media *himself* and people rightly thought he was a piece of shit. And Politics JOE is giving him a platform to cry about it, because they're nobs too.

THREAD. I love old Habitat catalogues & managed to get hold of all the 70s ones before they got v pricey & collectable. Flicking through them, I wondered: "What are the true stories of the lives of the people in these photos?" So I decided to write those stories. You'll find them in the alt text.
Serendipity Range (1971)
11.39am. Carol’s head felt like a fire in a neglected pedal bin. The vodka had been a mistake, the downers a larger one. There would be no chance of making it to her aunt’s luncheon now and all hope of a reconciliation would be gone. She picked up the novel she’d found by the bed, but it was no use: she couldn’t consume words in this state, much less those of wittering self-obsessed suburbanites. The smell of basic supermarket jam from the other side of the room caused her insides to churn. Which c*** had left it there? Another hour of meaningless, wasted life, never to be regained, trickled away from her. “This is not my house,” she finally realised.

I retain photographs depicting traumatic experiences in my life, since I think it’s important to remember the bad times, as well as the good. This one is from the occasion when some sheep I’d put my trust in threw me off a cliff for kicks then cut the rope as I tearfully begged for their assistance.
My hand, grasping a thin, frayed rope, as I try pathetically to pull myself up a cliff while some sheep watch from above.

Really rubbish headline. Remote attendance at council meetings isn’t about ‘working from home’, it’s about helping ensure that disabled people, those who are ill, have caring responsibilities, or don’t have evening transport, aren’t effectively legally barred from being councillors.
