omfg they have engineers working on an mcp that connects to our hr platform so one guy can see who approved timesheets or not. it's really funny to me all the stupid ways we find to spend money on ai tokens but openai still doesn't make money. we're gonna need to get a whole lot stupider

Ai music is so gross. My dad prompted a reggae ai song about Clopper Road in Gaithersburg being road from the take me home country road song. It has nonsense lyrics about clowns eating blocks of cheese. He loves it. Felt like I was having a stroke both times he made me listen.

The U.S. AI industry is being run by a batshit rationalist sex cult, and no, I am not being hyperbolic - they’re genuinely Like That:
Erin Redwing
@realizingerin
I went to an rationalist/EA Al doomer event last night with the goal of meeting someone who could calmly explain to me the argument for how they get to the conclusion that Al will kill everyone.
Because these are rationalists, I expected to find people who could lay out a serious extinction pathway, walk through the assumptions and intermediate steps, identify choke points where negative pathways could potentially be regulated, and entertain disagreement about where their assumptions might break down.
My experience was the exact opposite.
The people I spoke to seemed psychologically unable to entertain the possibility that their conclusion (that Al literally kills everyone, which was a point that many would not even budge on) might be wrong.
Their most extreme conclusion was treated as an axiom.
I had multiple people walk out of conversations with me when I questioned their inevitable extinction premise.
At one point during a panel, the moderator asked everyone in the audience who was still skeptical of Al doom to raise their hands. About half the room did. He then told all of the skeptics to leave the panel and go with one of the speakers, who would answer their questions separately. They filtered out all the skeptics, and continued the panel only with the subset who accepted their extreme position.
I genuinely felt like a heretic just for questioning whether superintelligent Al inevitably leads to the extinction of humanity, or entertaining the possibility that the future might actually turn out well.
That does not mean Al safety is fake. Obviously there are serious questions about rapidly advancing Al systems and what happens as they become much more capable. Those are exactly the conversations I went there hoping to have.
But what I encountered was an apocalyptic death cult. These people are not rational. They are deeply afraid, they reinforce that fear in one another, and they have become so emotionally committed to apocalypse

Don't forget the Greater North American Cable Seeking Backhoe!
A side by side meme. The upper caption stretching across both images is "WHO WOULD WIN?" The left photo is a stock photo showing a Black man working at a laptop with an external monitor above it and a second laptop next to it, all three screens showing Very Important Terminal Code that he's staring intently at with his hands on the keyboard, captioned "multiple redundant systems designed by advanced engineering teams". The right is a yellow JCB backhoe being operated by someone in shadow, perched next to a pile of dirt and in the process of digging up more, captioned "One scrapey boi".

Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images. The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.

Chess is hard for humans, but not for computers.
One day, it will be fully solved like checkers.
Between now and then, or even after, have fun.
People enjoy many games/sports where machines are vastly betterThere are more possible chess games, by about 40 orders of magnitude, than atoms in the observable universe. To solve chess, you'd have to map them all. Good luck.

Wrong, all legal chess positions are ~40 oom less than the estimated atoms in the Universe. And ASI will figure out ways to solve and compress that are far beyond what we could possibly comprehend.
