It's probably time European journalists wrapped their heads around Heat Index (temp + relative humidity). In high humidity, sweating is less efficient, making heat worse, e.g.: Experiencing 35°C in London UK (70% RH) is more dangerous than 50°C in Phoenix Arizona (15% RH)

Would love a take on why/how Beddau RFC are completely destroying the WRU's nonsense of club rugby being dead. 3k attendance for their local derby match on Saturday, enough players to have a second team, seniors and a thriving youth team. It's population is only 4k, and taking on Ponty, Merthyr etc.

I'm a happy little agnostic, so today is generally about opening up a package of peeps so it can get stale, or creating ridiculous scavenger hunts for the kids in the yard, rather than anything spiritual. That said, it's not a bad day for this poem / drawing of mine.
Poem and drawing.

The poem is titled "Damage." The first verse is on left side of the page, and the text reads:
"We live in such a disposable time,
throwing away and buying new,
in and out,
as easily as breathing.
Standing in the center of ourselves,
we move along from damaged things
before they can become
uncomfortable.
Before they make us think.
Make us work."

At this point the text of the poem shifts more into the middle of the page to accommodate the drawing. The remainder of the poem reads:

"We live as if the loss is all we have,
and injuries can never be redeemed.

But damaged isn’t broken,
and the whispers of the wrecking world
are often easy lies,
for we are neither perfect-made nor
sinful born,
and sometimes worth is buried dark-earth deep.
It need not be our nature to destroy
what feels undone,
or put too much belief in all the permanence of hurt
when we can be the tinkers of our souls,
and mend ourselves anew instead of
falling to the scrapheap of despair.

We do not need to be disposable;
it is only damage.

	– John Wyatt Greenlee"

The drawing is in black and white, and made of abstract shapes and lines. It looks very much like a human figure with long hair, standing and facing away from the reader, but angled to the right. The figure seems likely to be naked, and seems like maybe it has its arms crossed in front of it's chest. It also has weirdly small calves, and seems to be standing on its toes. Which is something you might do a lot of if you had short calves but still wanted to see over things.

Generally, the figure gives of a wistful vibe.

Christmas Vs reality. My seven year old's version includes the cat stealing baubles, kids throwing pies at each other and covered in cream, and the mum hiding on the roof. Not far off really 😂
A gingerbread house sitting on an old bright pink cake stand. It's clearly been made by a child, the sweet decorations are randomly placed, the icing is smudged, but it's full of love. There are two brightly coloured child figures, made of sugar, standing outside. They have smudges of white icing on their faces. There is a gingerbread Christmas tree with a bauble missing - it's next to a black cat on the other side of the garden. There is a brightly coloured "mother" figure wearing a red headscarf and carrying a cane, she is stood on top of the gingerbread house, contemplating her life decisions.

5) Took me a little bit of time to find number five. But it's this place, a pile of old coal slag overlooking the derelict cokeworks that our village was built around. It's my perfect place.
A small black dog runs on what was dark black coal spoil, now covered in mosses and tough bits of grass, 'weeds' and vetches. At the bottom of the slope is a small scrubby tree barrier, hazel and oak amongst the species although they're not distinct in the picture. Beyond the tree line is a derelict cokeworks. There are various grey, smoke stained industrial buildings, and one brown chimney towers above them. Past that is a traditional British pastoral scene of a patchwork of green fields, with tree/hedge lines between them. The sky is mostly whited out, but there are grey clouds threatening rain.

4) This chocolate. It's got me through some shit moments 😂 It's still a reasonable price for a bar of chocolate, £1.25, and whilst decidedly not as ethical as something like Tony's Chocoloney, at least it's fair trade. Decent taste too.

3) Time with my family. (For the purposes of this picture, assume my husband is the giant teddy bear, I'm the vibrantly coloured hairy thing, and my son is a small humanoid called Rainbow)
A medium sized white and beige coloured air tent set up in a field with a hedge behind it. There are three camping chairs in front of it, in each one sits a child's toy: a small doll, a extra long orangutan, and a large teddy bear.

Finding five good things to refocus my brain. 1) This artwork by Taynee. Everything she draws resonates to me. ‘My plants are dying because I was sad for a while’ 🌱 www.tayneetinsley.com/?category=Dow…
Artwork by Taynee Tinsley. A naked red haired woman stands in front of a vortex/night sky made up of different blues and purples. She's draped in a blanket that mimics the colours of the ground. Drifting from her are brightly coloured flowers. She has freckles, and seems alone and distant.

And now I've got to put my adult head on again. Not upset or scare my son. Do dog walks, play silly games, draw silly things, listen attentively. I just want to be under a blanket until the world stops being so loud. It never stops, does it?

Right now my brain is frozen. I've been pulled right back to when I mentally collapsed in January. The child abuse case I was a witness for? I've had police at my door for it. My abusive mother finally sectioned at a distance from me? Her final appeal was rejected today. She moves back in 3 weeks.

I stopped using twitter and Facebook because everything got too close. Too many people who liked me followed me and would then be privy or react to the moments when I just wanted to shout into the void. Slowly I didn't have a social media where I was free to be the person I feel like inside.
