Maybe I shouldn't admit this, but I actually stewarded for HTLGI in 2025. One of the events I worked at was Richard Tice and some other right wing ghouls discussing what steps a right wing party might take if it got into power, so I was at least kind of curious from a "know your enemy" perspective.

I think you can actually see the seam here between what the BBC journalist wrote, accurately repeating the statement of the expert, and where the editor watered down the headline

BBC headline is "Climate change likely played role in Nepal-Tibet flood, study finds" - note the "likely"

The first actual paragraph of the story says "There was absolutely no doubt that human-induced climate change played a role here in the preconditioning of the disasteri, said Dr Friederike Otto, a climatologist at Imperial College London who co-authored the study." Note the "absolutely no doubt", which is quite different to the likely in the headline
