would it be bad to just saturate the returned value? Ofcourse not an ideal behavior but it doesn't seem that bad either.

I feel like that's the biggest issue in our industry and AI has just multiplied that tenfold. Software that improves people's lives is created with care. I feel like we're teaching a generation of developers that it's totally normal for stuff to be broken all the time. Not sure how to solve this.

Amazing, super relevant to what I happen to be doing at work. Would really love to start using this as it seems to hit most of the boxes (PI 5 + WPE + RAUC) but it also seems quite early to adopt.

Curious to hear how you feel about `type Alias = impl Trait`. Its not stable yet but it seems quite niche and quite complicated.

I believe valid critiques of LLMs are the environmental impact and the ethics of collecting training data.
010 1
tjallingt @tjallingt.com · 12/01/2026
The difficulty of this discussion is that most use of LLMs (for vibecoding in particular) does seem to stem from this "laziness". It's seemingly rare that people actually put in effort. However this is less of a critique of LLMs and more the people using them.

tjallingt @tjallingt.com · 12/01/2026
It has been very interesting to see you describe how you use LLMs of the past months. Most people seem to use LLMs as a way to "skip" doing work, a form of laziness. To me its clear that you choose to be rigorous and use the LLMs as an extension to your method.

reading up on "releasing zalgo" i get the problem but existing apis already allow you to do this easily: ```js fn zalgo(ms, cb) { if (ms === 0) cb(); else setTimeout(cb, ms); } ``` Adding more ways to introduce this footgun seems bad but should we not also trust developers with perf features?

With all the excitement of (Same-Document) View Transitions (and more VT features) becoming Baseline Newly available (yay! 🎉), one might overlook the inclusion of the moveBefore() method. This method is a pretty big deal as it allows you to move elements around the DOM while preserving their state.

Move elements around the DOM while preserving their state with moveBefore
Unlike the classic way of moving a node by removing+reinserting it, the moveBefore method preserves the element’s state!

I'm not sure if it is still the case but a few months ago I tried to set up the react-compiler with react-router "framework mode". There where no clear docs for this and i didn't get it to work at the time.

Which allow you to reference components/functions from different environments. It's interesting to think about a world with Sebastiaans module references proposal or that "use client" & "use server" would be more independently supported/documented/understood.

It's interesting to think about how RSC and "use client" & "use server" are actually different (complimentary) features. RSC is more being able to move component execution around different environments. The "use" statements compliment this by creating the doors.
