I used to really hate those long floats until I tried ladderback jacquard. Gamechanger. Not saying that learning it will make you love the piece or want to continue test knitting, but it might be worth a try.

I keep forgetting to post these. Maybe I'll remember regularly someday (doubtful). Anyway, this is a snapshot of what I read in July. Ignore the finish time - I don't bother recording start dates usually.

A chart of the books I read last month. Five books, 1,782 pages. First book was Yesteryear, middle was The Star of Calcutta, last was Ithaca. There's a pie chart showing 60% fiction, 40% non fiction, and then some lit categories. And all were audiobooks

I’m gonna say something that’s going to upset people: the current oversize sweater trend is because there are a bunch of people designing clothing who do not understand how to construct clothing correctly, and because constructing clothing correctly takes time we have decided we don’t have.

This week's #showmeyourknits is garter stitch, and I have prettier and more useful knits, but one time someone handed me the ugliest acrylic yarn and I said I'm gonna make a tie out of that. People laughed. Well who's laughing now?

There's a Ravelry group called Afghan Squares for Pine Ridge Reservation that accepts squares to seam together and make afghans to send to the Reservation. I don't believe they have an off-Rav website.
