This is the best news that I've had in some time. I love this film but loath streaming services; I have been desperate for a physical media version of this and it seems that my wish will finally come true.

More dirty tricks and shenanigans by Republicans ahead of the November elections, this time in Pennsylvania. We've seen this same play before and it's actually quite effective. Reporting by Punchbowl News.
Green Party threatens Dems in Pennsylvania
Something strange is going on in Pennsylvania.

The commonwealth’s Green Party is warning voters that candidates are petitioning to get on the ballot in key races under mysterious circumstances without the party’s endorsement.

Democrats fear it may be part of a concerted effort to help Green Party candidates siphon away votes from Democratic nominees and cost them a chance at taking out GOP Reps. Ryan Mackenzie and Rob Bresnahan.

This is a big deal. The presence of a third-party candidate can swing tight congressional races. Pennsylvania is crucial to Democrats’ drive for the House majority. Here’s what we know.

Andrew Tupone submitted signatures to run as a Green Party candidate in Pennsylvania’s 7th District, where Democrats nominated firefighter Bob Brooks to take on Mackenzie. Tupone is now registered with the Green Party, but he was a registered Republican at least as recently as 2025, according to voter file records. Tupone voted fairly consistently in GOP primaries over the past decade.

Tupone told us no one recruited him to run and he didn’t pay anyone to circulate petitions for him. Tupone said he initially switched his registration to Democrat but then pivoted to Green. “People are fed up with both parties and over 9,000 voters want to see another option on the ballot,” Tupone told us in a statement.

But Pennsylvania residents reported being solicited by people collecting signatures for Tupone who said they were paid to do so. One petitioner said he was making $30 an hour but wouldn’t say who was paying him, according to a person who spoke to him.Another petitioner called the Green Party seeking what they described as a promised payment for collecting signatures, according to Tim Runkle, the co-chair of the state’s Green Party. The Green Party isn’t backing Tupone and hasn’t paid any petitioners to get him on the ballot. The caller wouldn’t say who hired them, per Runkle.

“They said they signed a non-disclosure with whoever it is that was paying them to circulate petitions,” Runkle said.

Many circulators who filed signatures for Tupone reported living in other states, including Illinois, Maryland and Florida.Another Green Party candidate filed with the FEC to run in Pennsylvania’s 8th District, where Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti is challenging Bresnahan. Leila Hazou was also a 2024 Green Party candidate in the state’s Senate race.

The Pennsylvania Green Party said Hazou indicated to them she was not sure she would continue to run without their support. Hazou did not respond to a request for comment and has not filed signatures with Pennsylvania’s Department of State.

The filing deadline for petitions is Aug. 3.

Stupid #2: He dusted off the law that made the Depression worse
Here’s the part that should make your jaw hit the floor.
The authority he used is Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930. And the Tariff Act of 1930 has another…more famous name: Smoot-Hawley.

Yes…that Smoot-Hawley. The tariff law that economists have spent nearly a century blaming for choking off global trade…and deepening the Great Depression. The one they teach as a cautionary tale. The one…that triggered a wave of foreign retaliation …and helped turn a bad downturn…into a catastrophe.

Of all the dusty tools in the drawer…he reached for the one with “worsened the Great Depression” stamped on the handle.

AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS (2024) Acrylic on Panel - 24” x 36” Commissioned by Centipede Press for the classic horror novel (forthcoming) by H.P. Lovecraft, this painting was over a decade in the making. 1/4
A closeup view of an Antarctic explorer reveals snow frosting his beard and scarf as he holds up a green five-pointed star. He stares at the audience in horror with his mouth in a slack downward arc. The texture of the star looks like engraved jade with another star at the center and tentacles reaching to the points. Three of those points are broken off. The left lens of the man’s goggles flares with light while the other reflects an abstract horror with dozens of eyes and jagged teeth. The mountains in the background climb upward to the left. Over the shoulder of the explorers fur-lined parka a jagged cluster of rock takes the shape of a trio of skulls.

I just saw They Live, a funny little John Carpenter movie in the 80's about aliens who started taking over the world. In that movie which was set in current time (the 80s) there's a scene where in a gala the leader is telling them they should have full control of the world in 2025. Coincidence?

The short answer? Money. The long answer? The ruling class of the ultra wealthy has decided that there are too many of us and they want to 'cull the herd' down a bit to a smaller, more easily controlled, population. They believe that AI and robots can replace most of us; we're superfluous to them.

For the sake of argument, let's assume that the 2024 election were fair and without any dirty tricks or shenanigans. Even with that, less than a quarter of Americans voted for Trump. Those people, without a doubt, need to be held accountable for the choices they made. 1/2

For anyone who works in journalism and wonders what to do in the face of increasing pressure from the Trump regime to 'comply in advance', here is your answer. To quote John Oliver, when confronted by bullies and tyrants the only words that you need are, "fuck you, make me".

Read the entire thread. This can't be repeated enough; especially for the folks who are already trying to surrender before the battle really gets going. None of this will be easy, or painless, but what we do, and don't do, matters. Do not comply in advance; fight as if your life depends on it.

Yep, 'canceling elections' is just not a thing. We have never canceled a national election in this country due to a war or any other reason. We even had a national election in 1864, during the Civil War. If we can do it then than we can certainly do it now; no matter how much Trump doesn't want to.

Laws are only powerful if people believe in laws.To make laws believable, you need consequences for breaking laws. If consequences are not brought, the rule of law becomes weaker & more people start to not believe in them. They are doing this purposefully to draw us towards chaos, anarchy & weakness
