Contemplating ACEOs. 😉🦌 I made two practice ones to see if I'd find it enjoyable and something I could do. I started with a messy "ugly" abstract to keep it low stakes and no stress about "the first one." You know what I mean? A border worked well on it, but not so much on this one.

A happy little moment, where I saw the sunlight glistening on my stones and the shadows they created, so I decided to slide a piece of paper under it and begin to trace and breathe. Then I took my aquarelle brush and dropped some paint in the shapes.

Quite a large watercolour drawing from a sketching visit to Ashdon. I have a lot of paintings from there, many of which need a little adjusting. Such a pleasure to have had the opportunity to paint there. The owner has one of my paintings but has now sold the property.

Unfortunately travelling to venues like this is now a thing of the past as I gave up my car last year. However most of my work will now be botanical and garden paintings focusing on my own garden with lots of planting going on right now!

Throwback to my first big #collage! (With a little assemblage). The theme-Dream destination- #Ireland! It's one of the most challenging & labor intensive projects I've ever tackled. It hosts a lot of technique & supply firsts. It's one of my most treasured pieces even in its imperfections. #Art

Ireland themed mixed media collage and assemblage. It's filled with elements of various popular tourist locations Coastal Scenery: Dramatic cliffs, such as the Cliffs of Moher, are depicted alongside turquoise waters and vertical rock stacks rising from the ocean.
Rolling Green Hills: The "Emerald Isle" is represented through endless rolling pastures, stone-walled fields, and lush meadows typical of areas like the Dingle Peninsula and Connemara.
Flora and Details: Smaller inset images highlight local details such as grazing sheep, blooming wildflowers (daisies and poppies), and even a puffin on a rocky outcrop.

Whimsical Elements
A central square image features a fairy garden theme, with a tiny red "fairy door" set into a mossy background, surrounded by miniature mushrooms and white flowers. This reflects the "cottagecore" and folklore aesthetic often associated with the Irish countryside.

Anna Atkins' first book illustrated with photographs was 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘈𝘭𝘨𝘢𝘦: 𝘊𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 (in parts from 1843 to 1853). The text was handwritten & the cyanotype photograms were of British seaweed/algae specimens. Only ~17 copies are known to survive today. #WomenInSTEM #botany
