We ere on a 3 month long campervan trip in Varanger. My partner had found a young hawk owl family whilst I flew back to the UK for a few days to attend my mum's funeral in 2019.
He picked me up from the small airport at Vadsø and we went straight to the Birch forest where he'd seen the young family. Tired and emotionally exhausted, I lost myself in the encounter with these noisy youngsters.

Little Tern in a spin. Alan's Alt #birdoftheday today is #Contortionist. After they have emerged from a dive into the sea, little terns 'wring' out their feathers by spinning their head and tail around mid-air. Taken a few days ago at Cley, Norfolk. #ukbirds #birds #ECK #birdphotography
