How do stem cells decide what to become? Beyond genes and metabolism, bioelectric dynamics across subcellular compartments shape cell fate and function. Our new review in Current Opinion in Cell Biology explores this emerging framework for bioelectric regulation. authors.elsevier.com/a/1noWh_Ljpb...

Finally out! We studied the retinas of the longest-living vertebrate, the Greenland shark, and found that the retinas remain remarkably healthy in animals around 150 years old. What is the mechanism? It may be a highly efficient DNA repair system. Enjoy! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Reaffirming the value of model organisms in training scientific minds - Nature Cell Biology
As biomedical research prioritizes human models and translational promise, classic model organisms are increasingly dismissed. Here we argue that they have a lasting value, both in enabling discovery and in cultivating scientific thinking, by training researchers in systems reasoning, integrative thinking and independent inquiry.
