Relevant re. this piece: One thing never mentioned about the pensions triple lock is there is no other equivalent in the welfare system There is no *single* lock for Local Housing Allowance or the benefit cap (they don't ever have to rise). And child benefit, JSA, ESA, etc only get an annual review

I agree, let’s reduce energy bills by removing these silly and expensive projects. I’ve long thought that they are diversionary activities designed to keep us locked into fossil fuels.

This gets said constantly, but it worth reiterating: Games Workshop being bigger than fishing is important to shout about because you wouldn't know it from government talking points, which are rarely about anything creative or artistic. Growth won't involve fish or steel, it will involve goblins.

I was an IT professional, fellow and chartered engineer. I’ve used a fair few AI models and some appear useful. Sadly they often produce unusable crap. We all need to be very careful about trusting AI.

This amounts to an admission that Israel is acting illegally. Why are more Jewish organisations not making it clear that they don’t want to be associated with Israeli behaviour?

UPF is one of those tells like “fish disco” or “legitimate concerns”. It means you can ignore anything the person has to say. When I was diagnosed with bowel cancer a colleague said to me that it was probably down to the UPFs I had eaten. Dear reader, I bit them.

The ability to pour hundreds of millions of pounds into a loss-making TV channel, bent on wrenching British politics sharply to the right, is yet another of the ways in which extreme wealth is trying to remake UK democracy. It needs to be part of any serious conversation about political funding.

This is your semi-regular reminder that pensioner poverty: a) is real b) is significantly less prevalent than working-age poverty and half the rate of child poverty, and c) is such that a pensioner is statistically more likely to live in a household worth over £1 million than to live in poverty

As a matter of logic you cannot be “hard working” if you rely on the state pension. I hope ministers will keep (start?) explaining that the state pension isn’t paid out of an investment fund but by the contributions of those currently working.

Badenoch probably didn’t read / understand the report. Khan was looking at the narrow self interest of London retailers. What a surprise. And Cebr have given their clients what they want, and accepted the damage to their reputation. Thanks Dan.

When I worked in London the problem was parking as much as slow traffic speed. I usually parked the car, needed for other parts of the journey, and walked or used public transport. London is a nicer, cleaner, place than it was 20 years ago.

I have canvassed for the Lib Dems but no more. This is simple populism with no chance of happening. Your party is prioritising tax giveaways over funding healthcare and defence. I agree that reversing Brexit would improve our GDP, but it’s a long term effect. You’re copying Reform to get clicks 🦨
