Inevitably the best part of Dracula is the opening stretch when Some Idiot blithely enters The Most Haunted Castle Ever and continues to act like the This Is Fine dog whilst being terrorized by a burn victim goblin being played by an actor doing The Most.

Schwartz's short retellings are super charming, but I don't think it's unfair to say that 99% of the legendary reputation is just those Gammell illustrations.

Assault On Precinct 13 was one of those films that forged its reputation in the UK. John Carpenter was made up by its success over here and told the head of the British company that released it he'd name a character in his next film after him. So well done UK film distributor Michael Myers

I am of course talking about John Carpenter's theme from Assault On Precinct 13, released almost 50 years ago, give or take a week or so, and made with no prior interest in electronic music. Carpenter was trying to recreate the pulse of Immigrant Song by Led Zep www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKA2...

This movie kicks so much ass if your idea of ass-kicking is otherworldly dreamscapes that are equal parts alluring and unnerving.

That's a totally made up rumor from the first BATMAN movie. Reeves left the set of the sequel due to a family emergency that has not been made public yet.

It's such a weird book. Shockingly sloppy plotting for Christie, and it's just, well, WEIRD to read her very specifically mannered prose that also makes mention of the Beatles.

There have been many instances of directors getting fired, getting quietly sidelined during reshoots, or walking off productions. But to have a major director like Soderbergh just take over on-set with Reeves's remote participation feels like a real one-of-one.

Coming up on a quarter century now of Jason Statham as action hero. Dude’s never dipped out of awareness, he’s had highs and lows but never fully flopped and never gone so big as to be unwieldy. He parodied himself before others could and then rotated right back to the real-deal.

Republicans Don’t Know Ball Update: A hockey blogger asked the two Michigan Senate candidates for statements on the Red Wings. Rogers: blah blah Michigan loves the Red Wings El-Sayed: angry rant about how the cheap owners MUST pay Detroit’s young star defenseman octopusthrower.com/what-each-mi...

"Hockeytown, USA will always be a coveted destination for the world's top players,"
Rogers said. "The Detroit Red Wings boast one of the league's most storied and respected histories, dating back to their days as one of the Original Six franchises.
Few professional organizations can match the tradition, legacy and rpestige that define this iconic franchise. GO WINGS!"

"I was at the game when Darren McCarty took on Claude Lemieux," El-Sayed said.
"The '97 and '98 Stanley Cup championships are still highlights of my childhood. The teams the last few years have been a far cry from the Wings I came to love as a kid. They're stacking losing season on losing season, yet the llitch family's wealth has done nothing but grow.
Michiganders are sick of sky-high ticket and concession prices buying them nothing but disappointment.

"The team holding out on Simon Edvinsson is just the latest example in a long series of ownership prioritizing their bottom line over the team and the fans. Our teams aren't just assets for billionaires, they're part of our culture and heritage. Hockeytown deserves better."

Continue to think very highly of HOKUM. Gets just a smidge too cute by half with its last act, but all in all this is just the exact flavor of eerie rollercoaster that gets me amped, executed to perfection.

It's such a special movie, and only stands out more and more after IRON MAN/DARK KNIGHT codified the only two approaches studios would allow for superhero/comic book fare.

The Halloween heist episodes of BROOKLYN 9-9 are all great, but they really do launch to a new level once the writers decided that once a year every single character turns into the Riddler.

To be fair to the Society of Authors, it is not the first author's organization in recent memory to step on its own dick about "AI," nor is it likely to be the last. It is interesting to note the boardroom-level disconnect with the constituency in each case so far, re: "AI" use, however.

We put restrictions on phones and kids/parents found cheats. We banned phones so kids started bringing in tablets and smart devices. All of it absolutely detrimental to learning and school culture. Time to rip this crap out by the roots.

This really is the stuff that annoys me about the modern age of “prestige” TV. They cranked out 13 episodes of THE WIRE and THE SOPRANOS every year for several years, but “Space Cops Who Don’t Go To Space That Much”, you guys have NOTHING in the tank for a prospective second season?

Well there’s just so few stories and characters in the very short and narrow history of the Green Lanterns to choose from.
