Just been reading a job ad that asked applicants to submit an anonymised CV. How can they tell who’s applying if I remove my name and contact details? Or verify anything I claim to have achieved?

My third day in a row down in Leith, this time to donate old phones and iPads to the Edinburgh Remakery. Afterwards we wandered down to the Shore. This cafe on Bernard Street must be run by Tolkien fans.

In other news, thousands of climate scientists say for decades that climate change could kill huge numbers of people and destabilize the world, and experience shows they were right all along, but it's deemed less thrillingly doomy to tackle seriously, so here we are.

Here at the edge of the salt marsh, all magic is brined. Clouds race the sky for the delight of being augury. Boats are warded against the songs of blue-skinned Blood Sisters, the summoning of ill winds. The mud holds its stolen treasures and even we witches walk with caution. – #EmilyCBanting, 1982

Time Traveler Causes of Death xkcd.com/2976/
A modified XKCD comic titled "TOP CAUSES OF DEATH FOR TIME TRAVELERS BY GEOLOGIC ERA:" features a tall, vertical rectangle representing Earth's timeline from its formation down to the present day. Along the left axis, tick marks indicate time intervals from "EARTH FORMS" at the top down through "4 BILLION YEARS AGO," "3 BILLION YEARS AGO," "2 BILLION YEARS AGO," "1 BILLION YEARS AGO," "500 MILLION YEARS AGO," and ending at "NOW" at the bottom. The vertical column is divided into stacked sections labeling the leading cause of death for each period: beginning at the top with "LAVA," followed by a section for "ASPHYXIATION," a thin band for "METEORS," a large section for "ASPHYXIATION," an even larger block spanning roughly 2.2 billion to 700 million years ago labeled "SLIGHTLY SLOWER ASPHYXIATION," and then smaller bands near the bottom labeled "FREEZING," "STARVING," "EATEN BY FISH," "TRAMPLED," and "EATEN BY MAMMALS." Next to the very bottom sliver representing the present day, an arrow points to the text "HIT BY SUV."

dubiousculturalartifact on Tumblr: "The new Odyssey adaptation has inevitably gotten people talking about a Muppet version of it, and they're frequently suggesting Kermit as Odysseus, Miss Piggy as Penelope.

I'm sorry but that's thinking way too small, hear me out:

We need to have Miss Piggy as Odysseus, and Kermit as Penelope.

Think about it... who's the more fickle, prideful, warlike one in that relationship? Who is absolutely ready to go ham, at a moment's notice?

 It ain't Kermit"

anyroads replies: "Miss Piggy tied to the mast while Statler and Waldorf heckle her from the sea"

Just given up watching the T20 final. Not because England are likely to lose, but because of the noise. Why does every boundary or wicket need to be marked by pop music? As is any other any break in play. It’s not entertaining, it’s noise pollution.
