mathematicians now feel like they have to be secretive about what they do in case it gets stolen by AI. graph theorists arent too worried about this though because they’ve already been doing discreet mathematics

If you're taking the ATV out this Labor Day weekend, wear a helmet and stay off paved roads to stay alive.
A forest. A guy named Ted rides his ATV safely along a trail. Throughout the forest are joyful clowns doing clown antics. They’re not necessarily menacing, but Ted picks up a little speed all the same. The text reads: Ted wasn’t sure how he ended up in the Forest of The Clowns, but he was sure glad he wore the proper gear: boots, pants, long-sleeve shirt, gloves goggles and a helmet.

I could find a thousand deviations from the original epic poem and another thousand reasons it stayed true to Homer's story. I could give zero shits about the skin color of the cast But talk about cinematic storytelling! The perfect musical score (inspired by Albanian polyphony and folk music) 2/4

The Cyclops was scary, Calypso's lotus was tempting, and the final battle was fucking intense. Good chance we go and see it a second time. Definitely go IMAX for the larger screen and deeper sound Plus, Circe and the pigs was the best fairy tale-esque scene I've ever seen. Absolutely phenomenal

I was really worried I would dislike The Odyssey (2026), but it was quite good. I kind of wish Eurycleia had a bigger role in the film and Laertes was mentioned once, but overall I was quite happy with the film.

Every parent knows which of their kids is most likely to set the animals free.

There is a lot to say about the Nolan Odyssey movie. But one point that I think has not been emphasized enough is: this is a film about living in LA, as Nolan, my erstwhile British compatriot and age mate, has done for years. I gather it’s a strange place.

Worth noting that the first part of the first sentence does not at all lead logically to its end. The fact that "A.i." is becoming more widespread does NOT mean educators must learn to "integrate it as a tool." Educators could in fact REJECT IT ENTIRELY.

An unaccounted for part of the economy is how much young people virulently hate AI, despite how aggressively it's being forced on them. They realize it's making their friends dumber and ruining the world and they want nothing to do with it. From the Penn student paper: www.thedp.com/article/2026...
Goldman Sachs reports that 300 million full-time jobs could be replaced by AI by 2030. Labor turnover is high and hiring has slowed. 71% of Americans worry that AI will cause permanent job loss. As young people about to enter the workforce for the first time, the fear of unemployment is understandable, but we cannot save ourselves with the very tool that is putting us at risk.

The irony is that as Penn pours endless money and energy into AI advancement in its attempt to get ahead, the University is only quickening its own demise. AI cannot coexist with education — it can only degrade it. As technology advances and workers are replaced by machines, schools are some of the only places we have left to explore and wrestle with human thought. With our own university leading the charge, AI is now corrupting those few sacred spaces and leaving us with nowhere to engage in true scholarship.

Editorials represent the majority view of members of The Daily Pennsylvanian Editorial Board who meet regularly to discuss issues relevant to the Penn community. This body is led by Editorial Board Chair Jack Lakis and is entirely separate from the newsroom. Questions or comments should be directed to letters@thedp.com.
