Deservedly so, unfortunately. Sure, OldBlizz wasn't the best place to be given the revelations from recent years, but god damn didn't they just nail almost everything they set their eyes on, consistently, for 15+ years. That was impressive as hell, it's sad that's no longer the case.

Also, the new graphics are WAAAY better than Reforged's, but they still look kinda meh: I saw Grubby's video and the biggest problem imho was there isn't a clear chromatic separation between the various elements. You can barely see where the grass ends and the trees start, for instance.

WARCRAFT III The moment I saw Blizz release the Warlock for D2R I knew that was the direction they would go to. New campaigns is good, no new races is disappointing. That would have been the ONE THING that would have made me abandon legay TFT and actually launch Reforged instead.

STARCRAFT I'm glad the series is getting out of the dusty trunk in the basement. The trailer was solid, kinda sad the game is not another RTS but to be honest SC2 is already a solid title (not to mention OG Starcraft), a shooter feels like a solid starting idea, let's see where it goes.

I've also been told that the same was true of the internet, that people hated it and employers had to force their employees to use it and again, I was there. None of that is true. With actual world changing technology, people were excited to use it! They spent lots of money to use it!

Game design isn’t about being able to identify problems. Everyone who plays games can identify problems. Game design is about diagnosing player experience, having intent, and executing. I think to a lot of folks outside dev, game criticism (an art in itself) is seen as interchangeable with design.

There's certainly bias there but I think WC3+FT and WotLK was when Blizzard was at its best. WC1 and 2 are frankly unremarkable when it comes to their visuals, and Vanilla WoW was a pile of pop culture references wrapped in that same aesthetic.

The way WC3 has been mishandled by Blizzard is honestly infuriating. They had greatness in the palm of their hands, they only had to update the graphics maintaining the og Warcraft style (which is how WoW looks). Finishing the Naga as a playable race would have been the cherry on top.
