Thunderstorm season is about finished across mainland Alaska. This season started off slow but ramped up just before summer solstice. The mini-peak in mid-August was unusual but not unprecedented. Total strike count was typical since the current detection network came online in 2012. #akwx #weather

As of late Saturday evening, Fairbanks (UAF West Ridge) snow depth was still 15 inches. But with low temps above freezing and highs in the 50s, that will quickly drop to "none" in coming days. The median winter snowpack melt out date the past 50 years is April 23. #akwx @themattphelps.bsky.social
