You often hear that clean energy is not replacing fossil energy, only adding to total energy, and thereby not reducing emissions. ("There is no transition," they say.) It's nonsense. Read this post from @zekehausfather.com about how much FF has been displaced by renewable energy:
theclimatebrink.com
What if the world hadn't built wind and solar?
Clean energy does not simply “add to” global energy use; it displaces fossil sources that would otherwise get built.

I often see people claim that because clean energy sources like solar, wind, or nuclear are manufactured using fossil fuels their emissions are high. But thats absolutely not the case: even accounting for full lifecycle emissions they are vastly better than burning coal or gas:

A while ago I made this chart to illustrate that yearly additions of solar and wind (in TWh of energy) are growing fast while nuclear is largely stable. But solar and wind started small versus the older and established technology nuclear. This year we've reached a new milestone.

Germany could curb power price swings, reduce renewable subsidies with batteries – report | Clean Energy Wire
Doubling Germany’s battery storage capacity could significantly reduce the number of hours with extremely high or low power prices on wholesale markets and decrease renewables subsidies, according to a simulation by solar research institute Fraunhofer ISE. To achieve the price-dampening effect, storage systems needed to react to market signals, which currently is not the case for many home batteries.
