1st lecture today in my "Humour in Medieval Celtic Literature" module. The idea was to get students to develop a vocabulary of humour in order to analyse why something is considered funny. What the students actually learned was that I don't know how to spell either "humorous" or "innuendo". 🤦 Oops!
A whiteboard with terms relating to humour written on it: comic triple, satire, parody, irony, double entendre, pastiche, and so on. Two words - humorous and innuendo - are spelled incorrectly.

The first proof page of forthcoming article entitled "Middle Irish Theories of Cognition" by Elizabeth Boyle. The opening paragraph of the article is visible, in which I cite the claim of the seventh-century Liber de ordine creaturarum that faith should be "believed" rather than "analysed". I then note that, despite this, medieval Irish thinkers continued to use philosophical tools to analyse many aspects of Christian belief, such as Creation and the Apocalypse.
