Update to the previous announcement. The server limitation is apparently set in stone, making it currently impossible for the site to be fully operational. Workarounds are being explored but sadly, I don’t see an easy fix anytime soon.

Ending the week on a high by meeting what may be the oldest Scottish book still in Scotland. Late C10/early C11, it is a psalter in Irish minuscule, presumably created in Scotland, exact provenance unknown. Richly illum. initials throughout, with fine interlacing and lots of brilliant animal heads.

Eolas: The Journal of the American Society of Irish Medieval Studies is an interdisciplinary journal dedicated to the study of Ireland in the Middle Ages, including Irish intersections with other medieval cultures and societies. We look forward to receiving submissions on a range of subjects dealing with all aspects of medieval Ireland, including but not limited to: archaeology, philology, theology, literature, history, and art history. The journal is available on JSTOR and is published by the Catholic University of America Press.
 
The journal includes a Book Reviews section, a Short Reports section, and a Digital Projects Reviews section.
 
Deadline for article or digital project review consideration in Eolas 20: Friday 16 October 2026.

●        Articles should be based on original research and be between 7,000 and 10,000 words in length.
●        Short Reports are between 1,000 and 3,000 words and take a narrower focus such as examining an archaeological site, manuscript, or literary item.
●        Requests for digital project reviews should be submitted by the project lead in an email to the General Editor. The request should include a 300-500 words project description, a url to the project, and details of start date, duration, and continuing status/completion.
●        Submissions will be peer-reviewed and assessed by the editorial committee and an outside double-blind reviewer and returned within three months.
