Northerly Island is not by any definition in the north of the city, nor is it an island, but it is beautiful though. Easternly Peninsula doesn’t have the same ring to it though

Hello, I’m snowy mountaintops
Top of said snowy mountaintop
(Monte Torresella on the Swiss-Italian border)Side of that snowy mountain which also almost killed me. Had to cover that entire visible distance traveling horizontally, with hardly any trees to grab on to. Other side of the slope I had to horizontally traverse - somewhere under all that snow, there is a trailThe actual likely most dangerous part of the hike, where the snow was completely hardened, meaning if I were to slip on the smooth surface, I would slide 300+ feet down until my body would collide into a tree

From the CMAP meeting. The previous design for the new Lake Shore Drive is no longer being pursued, CDOT is changing the stated scope of the project. Based on this, we do not yet know what the new plans will look like, but the old reinforcing the highway plans are dead.

1. In an incredible new landmark review, the Health Council of the Netherlands has declared that gender-affirming care for trans youth works, reducing wait times is "morally urgent," and regret is rare. It is the latest of many Euro countries to advance care. Subscribe to support our journalism.

Went to visit this intersection earlier today, I hope this can see the next standard for intersection design in Chicago, it really is very good quality infrastructure.
A view of the raised intersection, with red brick-textured concrete spanning across the entire intersectionA view of the ramps leading up to the raised intersection, displaying a proper incline that is likely to slow drivers down, unlike many of the “raised” crosswalks which has been built across Chicago, whose slopes are far to shallow to actually provide any meaningful traffic calming

BART’s long fight against fare evasion is finally paying off. Here’s how much
BART’s new Plexiglass fare gates generate an estimated $10 million annually for the beleaguered transit agency, and have saved 961 hours in maintenance work, according to staff reports.

The concept and expectation of homeownership as an investment has to be one of the most damaging normalized concepts in this country. We are in a housing crisis and many younger people have completely given up on ever owning a home, yet we put so much political capital into keeping home values high
