My only take is that I remember speculation on what future attacks could look like (random shots into crowds, sabotaging infrastructure, driving a car into a mall etc) and all those things have been used by right-wing domestic terrorists

I would steer away from Squire. Don’t buy a crazy cheap one. If you end up liking bass, you are guaranteed to no longer want to keep playing that one. Get something decent that you can easily sell if the opposite happens and you don’t like playing bass
