I wonder if the Mummy 4 acknowledges the Mummy Chronicle books, in which (among other things), teenage Alex O'Connell trains to be a Medjai.
A book cover from the Mummy Chronicles book series by Dave Wolverton. A series of books geared for a younger-not quite teen audience. Aka me in the early mid 2000's. Who was yearning for some Mummy lore after the second film. In the centre is a generic blonde teenager with spiky hair in a golden gradient background. Bordered by grey CGI mummies with ghoulish faces.

“I realized I’m in the middle of a pedophile operation that has been run out of the N.I.H. by a Nobel laureate for thirty years.” Aviv has made a lot of choices in how she frames this story, and I'm not criticizing it (I am thinking about it), but burying this in the middle is one.

Exhilarated to share a 2nd @science.org cover article this month from our lab @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social! A collaboration with US & Mexico colleagues on the role of a Mexican biogeographic holding pen in shaping the Great American Biotic Interchange (GABI)(1/11) www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Cover of Science magazine for July 30, 2026. Caption from Science reads: A three-dimensional rendering shows the land bridge connection between North and South America. Research on the fossil record of mammals in Mexico suggests that the geographic region acted as a biodiversity “holding pen” for 10 million years, buffering the pace of both northward and southward movements of mammal species leading up to the Great American Biotic Interchange.
