Such a thoughtful and important piece. Shame is a topic that comes up regularly with clients. It's so important to be able to talk about it, and how it impacts our ability to move forward. The concept of "the compass of shame" is really powerful. This is an article I know I'll come back to.

Yesterday, NHS England published the independent ADHD Taskforce interim report with initial recommendations for improved cross-sector support. The full report is still to come, but I hope that this shows that the work is starting in earnest, and is being supported at the highest levels.

The obsession with 'overdiagnosis' is a much bigger problem than overdiagnosis itself
The health secretary openly condemning 'overdiagnosis' of mental health and neurological issues shows just how skewed and hollow the discourse around them really is. And this helps nobody.

Currently reading some thoroughly disheartening ADHD papers. Many are recent but still SO pathologising and generalising. I think that as well as being able to search for 'peer-reviewed' papers, there should be functionality to search for 'at least one lived-experience researcher' papers.

My day of study has been utterly derailed. Went for a walk and this little cub was on the doorstep. Stayed for a full minute looking at me and then followed me up the road for a few houses. When I came back she was curled next to the doorstep in the sun. Still there now ❤️
