#UrbanGaze #StreetPhotography The aerodynamics of building #skyscrapers in cities w/ hurricanes: A curving design diffuses intense frontal wind loads. #WindowsOnWednesday #ECK #TextureTuesday #Architecture #Photography #Photographers #CityScapes #GeometricShapes #Reflections #ColorADay #BlueTue

A close-up abstract architectural photograph captures the dynamic, curving, and very blue facade of a modern skyscraper, emphasizing its striking geometry and repetition of form. Sharp, dark grey metallic structural ribs sweep gracefully across the frame from top to bottom, creating deep perspective lines that draw the eye into a sharp, sweeping curve. Between these prominent parallel lines, large panels of reflective glass are tinted in vibrant shades of turquoise and cyan, mirroring the sky and casting geometric shadows across the surface.

Engineering-wise, this curved design is not purely aesthetic; it serves a crucial function in aerodynamics and structural mechanics. The curvature helps deflect and redistribute wind loads more efficiently than a flat surface, reducing the lateral forces acting on the building.

'CEILING OF LIGHT' . There's a lot going on overhead in Chicago's old Insurance Exchange Building 🇺🇸 . 🖨️ davebowmanphotography.com/featured/ceiling-of-light-dave-bowman.html . #photography #photographersunited #eastcoastkin #photographersofbluesky #ChicagoArchitecture #AbstractPhotography #dailyphoto

A photograph of the intricate glass roof inside Chicago’s historic Insurance Exchange Building, where a network of geometric shapes and intersecting lines forms a striking architectural pattern overhead. The repeating framework creates a sense of symmetry and order, while light passing through the glass contrasts with the darker structural elements, highlighting the elegance and craftsmanship of the building’s early 20th-century design.

My linocut portrait of Elisabeth Hevelius using a giant sextant on the right side and part of the new constellation named and depicted by Johannes Hevelius based on observations he made with her, featuring the Lynx. The star map is printed in a black vertical stripe. Then there’s a gradient of gold to red, so the sextant is largely gold and she’s mostly in red.

4-panel SMBC comic update. A man is walking happily, saying "Welp, time to have a beer and wank for three hours." He stops himself, saying "WAIT A SEC. WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE?" The man then turns to a robot and tells it to tackle those tasks, with the robot confirming "initiating... chug and tug..." In the next panel, the man is seen leaning over a stack of paperwork, thinking to himself "Finally, free for more toil."

A huge construct of branches, rope, and twigs skitters and lurches across the field on many legs like a great artificial spider. It possesses a face of many carved jack o lanterns, eyes and mouths flickering dimly under its shadowy bulk.

A sad, pitiful, miserable, shivering, soaking wet, scarred werewolf? Who could that be for, I wonder? It's for @wolfhidewinter.bsky.social of course! Henry having an absolutely terrible day at the beach. Inspired by his return to his coastal hometown after becoming a werewolf, starving and lonely

Digital drawing of a green-eyed black and brown wolf (werewolf) with scars across his flank walking on a beach with his tail tucked, looking behind him. He's scrawny and his fur is scruffy and soaking wet, and he looks miserable and sad.

In the foreground is a patch of yellow tall grass hiding his paws. Behind him is a beach littered with dead seaweed and driftwood. Further back is a rocky part of the coast with a few trees and a lighthouse on it. Waves are crashing on the rocky coast and the beach. The sky is dark and grey (but still daytime) and it's raining heavily at an angle
