Every time I see folks moan about bad how leather is for the environment I roll my eyes. One leather item that will (with proper care) last my lifetime is far, far, FAR less problematic than a constant churn of plastic shit. We have to stop thinking short term only. Time matters.

Why I am so vehemently against "vegan leather" (ie plastic). On the left is a 20 year old leather pen case that's only got better with time. On the right a 5 year old "vegan" one which is falling apart, literally. Also, it never offered any actual protection while the stiff leather DOES.

Two three pen cases lay next to each other full of pens. The leather case is in good shape. The plastic case is breaking down at the top of each pen slot.
