I seem to have developed a dry cough, and I'm tired, and one of my other teammates is sick so I have to play tonight, and a student (who always cancels on me at the last minute) booked an appointment late enough that I have no time to go home before curling... this is a dark timeline.

I finished an afterwork swim and got back to my office to get my stuff. I spilled my creatine powder all over my desk. I’m too tired to clean it right now. Some dead trees are being removed from behind my building, and I heard a chainsaw, then yelling, then a tree crash. I looked out the window and dude is running from the underbrush clutching his chest (and at least smiling). I think they didn't expect the dead tree to fall that direction.

Giant leap going electric without home charging. 280 miles per charge was the tipping point. Plus chargers are work (though they fill up fast). If after a year or two it’s too nuts, I’ll rethink. But so far, it’s great.

Handled all the DMV paperwork and officially signed the title to Ludwig Von Lopez the wunder Jetta to Nephew #1. It doesn’t feel real yet, but I know they’ll have a great life together. 14 years together is hard to let go of, so I’m happy he’s still in the family.

Again, most things that contribute to California’s high gas prices is actually a good thing. Like premium egg prices didn’t go up all that much. Because they were always correctly priced. Gas should be expensive because it is expensive.

And a reminder to people who want to dunk on CA gas prices…. It’s not just taxes. It’s supply/demand, transportation costs (we have no pipeline), and we have out own extra refined formula. It’s what gas should cost.

Fun story, my dad got Kaiser benefits when he started his job in 1974. He had that coverage ever since. He broke his hip in 2014, and they were panicking when they saw he was a member since 1974 but they had no medical records. My mom had to say he had never been to the doctor. Not once. It happens.

I try to have a fair amount of "separate the art from the artist" and appreciate greatness in one way without expecting perfection in all ways (because people are complicated and no one can please everyone), but damn, it can still be a let down even when you know it and expect it.
