Since the 80's the sociopolitical vibe has been "people are lazy and dumb. downsize 'em. no social programs; they take advantage of 'em. art is dumb and useless. babies suck. old people too. education, medicine, food? good money after bad." Why should anyone care if AI takes over after all that?
