Section of William Morris Rose fabric, a dense repeating pattern with symmetrical, interwoven repeats. The primary motifs in the pattern are pink and red roses, yellow and orange tulips, and light-colored birds, on a ground of blue and green rose leaves and white and pink rose stems. This was SUCH a great episode. The Coleridge quote about “seeing Kean is like READING Shakespeare by flashes of lightning” is so interesting. His son Charles would often be described as evoking Pre-Raphaelite art on the stage. So fun to think about theatre as embodiment of other art/literary forms
