(she/her) Still not entirely clear on this whole social media thing. Apparently I am supposed to have something to say about everything? I study how people use AI and do cybersecurity and stuff.

right, yeah, i do not think that your p(doom) should be zero, just that the _solution space_ they have constructed occurs at the far end of a long series of bad inferences, leading, e.g., OpenAI to declare "there's no point in sandboxing our models because they'll just figure out a way out."

a big problem is that a lot of folks have internalized the idea that security is UX friction, and that if there's not enough UX friction it's "not secure". But usually the reverse is true. Google secures more passwords than every third-party password manager combined *because it's easy to use*.

Many people have a vested interest in pretending otherwise, but the US research university is globally dominant to an almost unbelievable degree. The typical state university is a football team stapled to a R&D lab with a budget bigger than the entire nation of Belgium.

Is it the research study out of Education? I feel like the question they’re asking (“is this actually helpful?”) is reasonable, at least partially because the study is designed such that “no” is a possible answer. But I totally get not being interested in enabling the whole project of “AI”

1. LLM-generated code tries to run code from online software packages. Which is normal but 2. The packages don’t exist. Which would normally cause an error but 3. Nefarious people have made malware under the package names that LLMs make up most often. So 4. Now the LLM code points to malware.

Danish activists have a petition to buy California from the US for $1 trillion. 200,000 signatures so far. That big theme park there would be renamed Hans Christian Andersenland.
Why California?
O Sunshine Galore: Let's face it, Denmark's weather is... well, let's just say it's cozy. California has 300 days of sunshine a year. Imagine swapping your rain boots for flip-flops!
Tech Dominance: Gaining an extra bunch of Tech bros? Great! It is what every democracy needs.
Avocado Toast Forever: California grows 90% of the U.S.'s avocados. That's right - we'll never run out of avocado toast.
• To protect the free world: Most people say we have the best freedom. Colossal freedom.
O Disneyland: We'll rename it Hans Christian Andersenland. Mickey Mouse in a Viking helmet? Yes, please.
