Look, I was brought up a Catholic - Catholic school, Celtic fan Glaswegian family - and just found it all nonsense from a very young age. The current Bishop of Rome though…

There is a lot of "oh dear" to go around in the results of this very thorough Pew study on the issues with synthetic samples, but this strikes me as particularly "oh dear" www.pewresearch.org/data-labs/20...
AI polling results can lean on racial or partisan stereotypes

In many cases, our AI poll took beliefs or attitudes that are reasonably common among a particular subgroup and portrayed them as nearly ubiquitous. For example, our AI poll would indicate that:

97% of Hispanic adults are at least somewhat likely to follow the World Cup (while the actual share is 43%).

The BBC news summary this morning went seamlessly from "critics warn PM scrapping triple lock would be electoral suicide" to "critics ask if PM has nerve to make tough decisions" and I don't think it's a particularly pro Burnham stance to suggest he might not be the entire problem here.

The latest one of these, on the admittedly brilliant After Hours, is yet again proof of the American aversion to walking. Paul could walk from SoHo to his Upper East Side apartment in about 90 minutes. It’s a bafflingly daft plot contrivance that he doesn’t just, you know, do that

Andy Burnham believes football supporters should be to able to drink alcohol in the stands. I agree, stating the case in a 2018 piece for Football365 about the draconian and out-of-date treatment of fans in general. Stand by every word. www.football365.com/news/stop-tr...

England is a made up thing. It has no basis in the ineluctable laws of nature. Its extent is defined by Edward II getting his arse handed to him. Athelstan conquering York. The Welsh of Cumbria were incorporated, the Welsh of Gwynedd were not. It is a political idea, an aspiration - not taxonomy.
