The number and condition of hungry people on Manhattan streets is many times more than I've ever seen. In a poor area, on corners of busy intersections, there'll be multiple older folks in wheelchairs who are enfeebled and skinny as heck. Plus everyone else. Food is an unavoidable preoccupation.
