Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

Clean Air Where @cleanairwhere.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
🧵 1/7 Last week we posted about the common misconception that cold air makes you sick. As the weather cools, we all head indoors more, just as virus season gets going. That means more shared air, more infections and more disruption.
Light blue Clean Air Where graphic reading: “Handwashing is great. But it’s not the whole story. How many illnesses are linked to pathogens we can inhale from shared air?” Illustrated hands being washed appear at the top right, with stylised airborne particles and virus icons moving through shared air below. the main tradeoff of going to grad school isn't money or prestige. that would be laughable. the main reason to do it is so you can ruthlessly pick apart movies that touch on your area of subject expertise

“You are a villain to speak so” “I am an appetite, nothing more.” Nosferatu 2024 : Study 🎨
Painted illustration study of a scene of the 2024 film Nosferatu directed by Robert Eggers. Scene studied is of Ellen played by Lily-Rose DEPP standing in a blue teal tonal Victorian era German sitting room. On the left is an armchair small table and shelf with photos and a small striped ottoman. On the right is a curved cabinet and two striped chairs with a bright lit window with sheer curtains tied up. The room is framed in decorative wallpaper trim. In the middle Ellen is standing in front of an open door in an off should large balloon sleeve that turns to tight sleeves in a lightly striped floral blue on blue fabric. She holds a large bouquet of lilacs. Painted digitally with gouache brushes in loose study style. Done on Procreate Pocket for IPhone 14

Fomalhaut is the 18th brightest star in the night sky, located approximately 25 light-years from Earth in the constellation Piscis Austrinus. It shines in solitary splendor with a bluish light in the autumn sky. It's also an eye wreathed in flame, never blinking. That's the duality of astronomy.🔭
NASA Hubble Space Telescope's most detailed visible-light image ever taken of a narrow, dusty ring around the nearby star Fomalhaut offers the strongest evidence yet that an unruly and unseen planet may be gravitationally tugging on the ring.
NASA Hubble Space Telescope’s most detailed visible-light image ever taken of a narrow, dusty ring around the nearby star Fomalhaut offers the strongest evidence yet that an unruly and unseen planet may be gravitationally tugging on the ring.
Hubble unequivocally shows that the center of the ring is a whopping 1.4 billion miles away from the star. The most plausible explanation is that an unseen planet moving in an elliptical orbit is reshaping the ring with its gravitational pull.
The observations offer insights into our solar system’s formative years, when the planets played a game of demolition derby with the debris left over from the formation of our planets, gravitationally scattering many objects across space. Some icy material may have collided with the inner solar system planets, irrigating them with water formed in the colder outer solar system.Image Credit: NASA, ESA, P. Kalas and J. The marbled polecat (Vormela peregusna) looks like a ferret dressing up as a cheetah for Halloween. They're native to a semi-desert grassland strip from Eastern Europe to Central Asia. Like a skunk, they can spray a foul-smelling fluid from anal glands. Let's talk about them. (📷: Petra Prager)
A marbled polecat photo from Petra Prager. It looks almost exactly like a ferret, but the arched back is sort of orange with brown dots on it similar to a cheetah, and the head has a white stripe that reminds me of a skunk, with a long floofy tail and dark limbs. This one looks alert and at rest.

"Where are you hiding the dreamies, motherfucker??"
• A young, nude Oedipus stands pressed tightly against a chimerical Sphinx. The Sphinx has the body of a lion, wings, and the head and breasts of a blonde woman.
• The Action: The creature leaps onto Oedipus's chest, digging her claws into his skin and gripping his flesh. Instead of flinching, Oedipus stands completely calm and holds his spear steady, locking eyes with her in a piercing gaze.
• The Foreground: Human remains—including a severed hand and foot, a king's crown, and a laurel wreath—lie scattered among the rocks at his feet, signaling the deaths of previous travelers who failed the riddle.
• Setting and Symbolism: The vertical, narrow composition features a dark, archaic background. Behind Oedipus stands a bay tree (sacred to Apollo, representing high human achievement), while a fig tree stands behind the Sphinx
The Theme: The painting illustrates the moment before Oedipus answers the Sphinx's riddle, symbolizing the triumph of spiritual intellect and moral force over base materialism and animalistic instinct

Maybe It Will Happen Today @today-maybe.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
An illustration done mostly with digital colored pencils. Ok, so we have a wooden coffin in the classic top-heavy hexagon shape. The coffin is propped up at an angle on nothing against a background of gray-blue paint splatters as a spooky sheet ghost rises out of it. Although it’s not a real sheet as it’s translucent and there’s nothing inside of it except a gape-mouthed green skull in the approximate head position within the sheet. The ghost is wearing a big. floppy, black witch’s hat and there’s a little brown bat hanging down from the wide brim. The ghost’s arms are extended holding a jack o’ lantern with a one-toothed frowny face carved into it. Popping out of the jack o’ lantern is a a black cat with green eyes balancing the cap of the pumpkin on his head. And on the stem of the pumpkin cap is a very serious-looking brown speckled owl. A series of spooky speech balloons is chained together around all this , each balloon containing one word and associating back tot he spooks and creatures named in the reverse order listed. The lettering in the balloons is red and drippy and reads ‘Maybe it will happen today’.

I wish ppl realised when their posts can trigger seizures. It doesn’t have to be flashing lights. Quickly changing images have the same effect. Generally if something causes the effect of 3 “flashes” a second, it can trigger a seizure - which could kill someone. If you see ppl do it, let them know.

Capital gains taxed at lower rates than wages. 2024-25: 584000 people paid £24.2bn capital gains tax (CGT) on £127.3bn gains. 45% of CGT paid by those with gains of £5m+, less than 1% of CGT payers. Align CGT rates with tax rates on wages, generate £12bn-£14bn. More if NIC charged.
