Why should we clean the air in schools? - Reduces pollutants which cause asthma, multiple cancers, and dementia. - More resilient to airborne disease and pandemics We need health-based standards for air quality in schools. Fund ventilation filtration and maintenance. #HIAS2026

💨Healthy Indoor Air in Schools France : 3 Priorities 1. We must make indoor air quality a fully integrated component of public health and prevention policies, particularly in schools and facilities serving the most vulnerable populations.

🧵 1/7 Well, we’re off to a strong start to the school year. Kiddo injured his finger in PE and, after making it through the rest of the day with a very swollen finger, we decided we should probably get it X-rayed.

Bright blue-sky graphic for the International Day of Clean Air for blue skies. Large text reads “Clean air matters. Outside and inside. Today, tomorrow, and every day after that.” Four coloured icons represent healthier people, stronger economies, a cleaner environment and brighter futures. A green cityscape sits beneath the blue sky, with text explaining that clean air supports health, comfort, concentration and wellbeing and can reduce exposure to harmful pollutants and infectious particles.

regardless of a person's view on various pathogens, just the visable difference between a used filter and a new filter should motivate everyone to advocate for better indoor air quality.

A US study of 97 households found replacing gas stoves with induction was associated with: • 70% lower indoor NO₂ • 70% fewer asthma-related hospital visits • 80% fewer days missed from work or school The study ended early, so larger studies are still needed to confirm these findings. Link below

🌡️ Most people are surprised to learn that the NHS advises against using electric fans once indoor temperatures exceed 35°C. Fans don’t cool the air - they cool you by helping sweat evaporate. Once the air becomes hotter than your skin, that cooling effect is no longer effective.

This grouped bar chart, titled "COVID Positive Abnormal Chest CT by Air Quality Setting", displays the percentage of abnormal chest CT scans among COVID-positive patients across three different tiers of air quality control. The graph compares overall and asymptomatic cases, illustrating a clear downward trend in the percentage of abnormal scans as air filtration and ventilation efficiency improve from household levels to high-efficiency aerosol control.
