There are no state rules regulating the ~300 Flock cameras operating in our Ocean State - how long data is kept, who can search it, or how it's shared. I will fight for common sense state wide regulations. Or we could just follow the lead of Narragansett & South Kingston amd simply ban them. 🇺🇸 🌊 ⚓️

I have to say: Sue not only has mad policy chops, but she's also someone who knows how to work with people to get things done. Her ability to bridge differences is amazing and something that I frankly envy. We'd be fools not to put her in state office.

@sueanderbois.bsky.social for lieutenant governor. Let's be honest: so far the Lt. Governor position has been something of a nothing burger, unless the governor gets appointed to a cabinet position or dies. I think Sue will change that. She has plans. steveahlquist.substack.com/p/lieutenant...

At the end of July, Providence City Councilors @shelpvd14.bsky.social, @sueanderbois.bsky.social & Justin Roias sent a letter to Mayor Brett Smiley asking to prioritize a road safety audit along Branch Ave. as a result of the continued concerns for pedestrians, bicyclists, students & drivers.
Providence City Council

July 20, 2026
The Honorable Brett P. Smiley
Mayor, City of Providence
25 Dorrance Street
Providence, RI 02903
Re: Support for the Use of Speed Camera Revenue to Fund a Road Safety Audit for Branch Avenue
Dear Mayor Smiley,
As the Providence City Council representatives for Wards 3, 4, and 14, we write in strong support of allocating Speed Camera Revenue to fund a comprehensive Road Safety Audit (RSA) for the Branch Avenue corridor.
Branch Avenue is one of Providence's most important transportation corridors, serving as a critical connection between Interstate 95 and Route 146 while supporting thousands of residents, businesses, employees, students, and visitors each day. The corridor spans multiple neighborhoods and functions as both a major commercial destination and a residential main street.
Branch Avenue is home to numerous community assets, including retail and medical facilities, schools, neighborhood parks, and healthcare providers. Educational institutions along and adjacent to the corridor—including E-Cubed Academy, A-Venture Academy, and San Miguel School—generate significant pedestrian activity throughout the day. Combined with nearby commercial centers, transit access, and neighborhood destinations, these uses underscore the importance of ensuring the corridor is safe for everyone who travels through it, regardless of their mode of transportation.
A Road Safety Audit would provide a data-driven evaluation of existing roadway conditions, identify safety concerns for motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users, and develop prioritized recommendations to reduce crashes and improve overall mobility. This planning effort would establish a strong foundation for future capital investments and position the City to pursue state and federal transportation funding opportunities.Providence City Council

Using Speed Camera Revenue to initiate this assessment directly aligns with the purpose of these funds by investing in proactive measures that improve roadway safety and help prevent serious crashes before they occur.

We respectfully support this funding request and look forward to working collaboratively to advance a safer, more accessible Branch Avenue for all who live, work, learn, and travel along this vital corridor.

Sincerely,

Councilor Sue AnderBois
Providence City Council – Ward 3

Councilor Shelley Peterson
Providence City Council – Ward 14

Councilor Justin Roias
Providence City Council – Ward 4
