One good movie 400 years ago and half of that is shite. Just stop.

Mike Leigh at NYFF tonight: ‘I’ve said it before, and I don’t mind saying it again: film directors who make long speeches about their film before a screening should be taken round the back & shot in the head.’

Several hours in, Silent Hill Townfall’s pretty good. It pulls simple but brilliant little tricks to make you anxious, and the environments are great. I’m not enthused by the gameplay on its own (it’s fiiiiine) but the theater supporting it has been strong enough to carry the whole thing so far.

I haven’t seen anyone on my friends list playing the new Wolverine game. Is it really that bad?

Criterion channel still works across all platforms with a VPN. Was sweating for a minute. I was devastated when they took Filmstruck away.

That new Resident Evil is fucking dog shit. Stop giving Cregger money. Script is awful. It’s not funny and the music was shit.

More Silent Hill. Nice to see a dev that can actually use UE5 properly.

The Stepfather (1987) 🎬 That great opening scene had me hooked, but Terry O'Quinn is the highlight. His 1950s-style 'perfect family man' demeanour and quippy one-liners had me cracking up, but the way he effortlessly flips a switch is a masterclass in tonal whiplash. #100DaysOfHorror (61) #Horror

I have no interest in any of this. Kojima hasn’t made near enough great games for all the noise around him.

The Changeling (1980) 🎬 A beautiful, tragic, and utterly captivating ghost story. The eerie atmosphere, mounting tension, and sound design are an absolute masterclass. An incredible haunted house classic. #100DaysOfHorror #49 #Horror #FilmSky

Got 11 out of my 13 for LFF. Missed out on new Hamaguchi and Kooreda. But got the Zvyagintsev and Lee Chang Dong so I’m happy.

I've remained so impressed with Big Walk - I absolutely adore games that use technology in interesting, fresh ways and the audio in this particular game and the way it handles communication is just so cool.

Finished Plague Tale Resonance. Solid 8.5/10. Best in the series so far. Also finished Mortal Shell II. Another 8.5. Tried Dawn Walker and that’s a fucking 0.5 if I ever played one. Dire.

Sony: Our consoles cost $900+ Me: Oof. That's rough, but everything is expensive. Sony: We're not making physical games anymore. Me: What? Why? Sony: Also, you don't own any digital copies of games you pay for. Me: Is there some kind of massive carbon monoxide leak at Sony HQ?
