I can’t overstate how important Henson was to my development as a writer and a human being, even though he died when I was only 22.

A very astute (and upsetting!) piece that touches on four scary cultural trends: 1) The demand for spelled-out moral clarity in stories 2) A growing inability to understand different types of narratives 3) The "customer's always right" version of fandom 4) The growth of fandom as a social identity.

It costs $130 + a $35 facility fee to obtain a passport and an extra $30 for a passport card. In California, fees for certified copies of vital records are between $18 and $31 each. How is the SAVE Act not a poll tax?

Disarm ICE. Tazers & handcuffs only. If they are going after *actual* dangerous criminal aliens then they can remove firearms from a locked trunk right before they begin the operation. Too many of these cowboys are under-trained, power-tripping hotheads who shouldn’t carry lethal weapons.

🤔 What reason would they have to make people distrust the postal service?! Articles about the postmark change in 🧵 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 ⌨️ Via @thefarafix.bsky.social

HEADS UP: The U.S. Postal Service quietly changed how postmarks work.

Mail is no longer automatically postmarked with the date you drop it off. Instead, the postmark now reflects the date it’s first processed by an automated sorting facility — which can be days later.

If you mail something right at a deadline, the official postmark could be later than your drop-off date and may be considered late.

If mailing date matters to you, go inside the post office and request a hand-stamped postmark.

Revisiting one of my favorite Rob Reiner films, STAND BY ME, which I probably watch about once a year. And then this. That last line always hit me hard, especially after the untimely death of my own best friend from age 12, but tonight the first line stopped me cold. Farewell to a true GOAT.

Zootopia 2 is the highest grossing Hollywood movie of the year & Kpop Demon Hunters was Netflix's most popular movie of all time, but fuck animators, am I right? I hate reading about how huge & beloved this stuff is while knowing how hard creators have it & how it still isn't broadly taken seriously

30 years ago my first script was the subject of a bidding war between Paramount and Castle Rock. Par won, and the script was rewritten into oblivion. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if we went with Reiner’s company. Still might not have been made, but I’m sure it would have been better.

Shocked by the awful death of Rob Reiner. I spoke with him for over an hour last night. We talked about his work and his plans for the future. I always enjoyed his company. We met at his Dad's in 1975. Last thing he said to me was "See you next year.." Such a terrible end. Such a sweet man.
