I can’t overstate how important Henson was to my development as a writer and a human being, even though he died when I was only 22.

I don’t remember any specifics, but they all would have been in it. Plus new characters that weren’t in PRIME

Thanks for the kind words! Duane Capizzi was developing a sequel series that would have been like DEADWOOD — where all the Cybertronians, good, bad & ugly, would have returned to try to rebuild a society. Sadly Hasbro thought that was too dark, and wanted a lighter, “younger” show

I loved comedy albums! I remember discovering a C&C album in my parents’ record cabinet when I was in jr high — forbidden fruit! I had some Cosby records too. I loved those, so it was devastating to learn what a monster he was in private

Years ago I got to dine at a taping of Hell’s Kitchen as a guest of a Fox exec. Of course I had to order the Wellington. It took almost 3 hours to get it, but it was AMAZING.

The movie holds up. As does this great anecdote courtesy of Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum.

I spoke to Mitch McConnell for 20 minutes and he told me this is the water, and this is the well. Drink full and descend. The horse is the white of the eyes, and dark within.

Yeah, I always set my thermostat to 78 here in the CA San Fernando Valley. It’s perfectly comfortable, especially with a ceiling fan (spinning counterclockwise). I will lower it to 74 at night before bed.

Honestly, it’s in a battle for 4th with me. Only the presence of Sean Connery makes it a contest…

I think Trump didn’t want a “fall of Baghdad” type image (akin to the Saddam statues coming down) that would make him look weak.

Why is it so hard to come up with some qualified, decent candidates? I guess the job just naturally attracts a lot of terrible people?

Wow, this is crazy. We had followed each other on a couple platforms for years. I’ve been on a reduced social media diet lately, and I just realized I hadn’t seen any posts from them in months. I couldn’t remember the name at first, just the Dr Aphra fixation. What a sad, weird story

I saw it in 1977 at the Cinerama Theatre in Honolulu, at the time the only theatre on Oahu that was showing it. So I likely saw it at the same theater as the future President…

A very astute (and upsetting!) piece that touches on four scary cultural trends: 1) The demand for spelled-out moral clarity in stories 2) A growing inability to understand different types of narratives 3) The "customer's always right" version of fandom 4) The growth of fandom as a social identity.

Someone at the SC film school us the nickel tour, but it wasn’t anything prearranged. We visited again over Christmas in 1985 (we had family in LA) and walked around the new SC film school, but I think I had already applied at that point.

I started college in 1986 and never did a formal tour. I knew from a young age that I wanted to go to USC, so we visited the that campus (along with UCLA) in 1983 on a family vacation to LA. Nothing formal, we just walked around. But that’s it. I only applied to 3 schools

I caught COVID from GRRM. (We were seated at the same table in a private dining room in a San Diego steakhouse. He was asymptomatic at the time. I got word a couple days later that he tested positive, as did I the next day.)
