Totally. I wrote back that I won’t go on record with USA Today in the future. Which is a heartbreaking decision, honestly. Kenny Jacoby’s Title IX reporting is groundbreaking.

This seems like a really efficient way to burn sources/experts. Presumably you agreed to speak to the interviewers specifically because you trusted them. You didn’t agree to speak to “Every employee of USA Today Inc”

When you're biking along on a quiet path and an SUV comes up behind you and lays on the horn and tries to run you into the ditch, the appropriate response is not to politely move aside. Everyone knows this.

“The current level of political animosity is exactly what one would expect to see if an extremist faction attempted to rescind the hard-earned rights of the vast majority of the country’s citizens… and its pathology is not anger—it is the movement to undermine a generation of rights.”

Anyone who thinks people will maintain their intellectual faculties while using AI should go pay a 22 year old barista $22 cash for a $6.80 coffee when the power is out. Literally 90 seconds trying to make change. Really good coffee though

This always happens on planes. Whether political or not, you never hear about bus drivers intentionally crashing. But there have been several passenger jets, including in Malaysia and Germany, and maybe this.

In this thread, Monbiot explains how political decisions are made for reasons of power and interest, but then justified with pretextual arguments about logic and morality. The reason I cannot deal with most political coverage is that it takes the latter arguments seriously and ignores the real story

As per this comment on Facebook from someone in Maryland, at least one other state has already seen travel a travel dengue case originating in Florida. And apparently wasn't diagnosed right away by doctors in Baltimore until they sent a blood sample out for testing elsewhere.
My son was visiting Tampa about a month ago and returned to Baltimore. He was hospitalized for 4 days and ultimately when the send-out ID results came back he was positive for Dengue Virus. He was very sick, it’s no joke.
