I don't understand why ARC can't simply do due diligence *after* announcing outcomes (called them "nominal outcomes" or whatever, until confirmed later): only issue a funding agreement/contract to uni after due-diligence. Been suggested in Senate Estimates, but ARC's "answers" were incomprehensible.

ARC has published (inadvertently?) how many Future Fellowships & DECRAs they’ll fund (FT26 & DE27). Even though outcomes aren't out yet, these numbers & success rates are here ▶️ www.arc.gov.au/ncgp-trends-... 299 FT26s & 455 DE27s "funded". Success rate of 20% for both schemes.
Various graphs and statistics are shown in an infographic style. Screenshot from ARC's "NCGP Trends" website showing the number of funded applications for Future Fellowships, the number submitted and the corresponding success rate.Various graphs and statistics are shown in an infographic style. Normally only 100 FTs & 200 DEs are funded, but ARC said they'd remove those caps this time, presumably because they initially planned that these would be the final rounds of each scheme. This meant a huge number of applications were submitted; ARC have compensated for this by funding more.

It’ll never happen but true transparency would include explaining why they would change the dates at all, BUT ESPECIALLY as we come close the end of the original decision window. Time to just sit with our anxiety for when longer…. 😬

Some substantial changes announced by ARC for next (supposedly final) rounds of some schemes, esp. Discovery Projects👇 🔹CIs can only be on one DP28 app 🔹CIs on successful DP26 or DP27 apps cannot apply 🔹Rejoinder process “has been removed and replaced with more detailed feedback to applicants” ⁉️
