I would really like to include this image from a trans rights protest in my book, Common Sense and Its Others, with an eye on the placard "Your Common Sense Isn't Our Common Sense," but I can find the original source to ask for permission (I've tried google image reverse search). Any ideas anyone?
A photograph from a trans rights protest in a busy city centre with two people sitting at the front and 5 people standing at the back one of whom is holding a trans flag. There are four placards stating "Let trans women speak," "Runescape made me Trans," "Trans rights are Women's Rights" and "Your common sense isn't our Common Sense."

Because, as everyone knows, protest works best when it's approved by the government. The entire judgement is based on a series of fairytales: about democracy, the benign nature of the state, the efficacy of polite, obedient and invisible protest and the harmonious course of English history.

If the Suffragettes were active today, there is not a shadow of a doubt that Keir Starmer's government would have banned them as a terrorist group, and insisted there are plenty of other ways in which women can register their dissent. Why don't they write letters to their MPs?

The Court of Appeal judgement on Palestine Action is frankly bonkers. It says PA is not "a direct action civil disobedience protest group like the suffragettes operating transparently in the open." Right: the arson, bombings, slashings etc were all planned in open meetings in Parliament Square 🙄🧵

When it comes to sexual assault, asylum, domestic violence, the structural reality is that people (especially migrant women) are faced with great suspicion, scrutiny, and stigma for making such claims. Any reporting that obscures this reality only further institutionalises racist, sexist inequality.

“Targeting trans people whilst pretending to care about women's safety is classic
patriarchy. It distracts from the 99% of sexual crime and 90% of violent crime committed by cis men and sets back equality for women by policing our bodies'”
