🚨NNNNNNNEW PAPER ALERT 🚨 I'm excited to share that our paper has been accepted in JAMA Internal Medicine! We examined whether rehospitalizations explain the well-established association between postoperative delirium and long-term cognitive decline in older adults. 🧵 1/7

Among older adults after surgery, postoperative delirium was independently associated with long-term cognitive decline; rehospitalization did not mediate this association. ja.ma/4umBqui
Two graphs display General Cognitive Performance (GCP) trajectory for N=560 over 60 months post-surgery. X-axis: Time since surgery, Y-axis: GCP score. Graph A is 'Offset by mean difference in GCP score'; Graph B is 'Not offset'. Both compare GCP trajectories for groups with/without delirium and rehospitalizations, showing declines. Tables below list participant numbers for each group.
