On Monday, I had the honor to give grand rounds at @ucsfmac.bsky.social and present the work my group has been doing for many years. I was also officially appointed to the Edward and Pearl Fein Endowed Professorship in Precision Care for Memory Disorders. Incredibly honored and grateful!

It feels quite surreal to see my name on this list. Especially with many people I consider to be mentors (Gil Rabinovici and Bruce Miller of course but also @leatgrinberg.bsky.social, Bill Seeley, Adam Boxer…). Very grateful to all of them, and everyone from my lab and @ucsfmac.bsky.social 🙏🏻😊

My first time—truly unforgettable. This was only possible thanks to the countless generous people who have lifted me up over the years. Grateful beyond words 🥰 @ucsfmac.bsky.social @grinberglab.bsky.social www.ucsf.edu/news/2024/11...

Working in this paper was a really fun collaboration with folks at AMYPAD, Lyduine Collij, Ariane Bollack, Gill Farrar and many others. This should be a helpful piece for people who want to understand Centiloids! alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

I don't know who needs to hear this, but screenshotting batshit takes on twitter and posting them here does not make this place better

Don't know the author, but this tracks
Four-panel meme. The top left panel features a cartoon representation of Bill Gates with a speech bubble that says, "Lets make more vaccines." Opposite to this, in the top right panel, is a drawing of a distressed character with a tearful expression, shouting, "nooooo you will put microchips in our bodies and track us." The bottom left panel shows a cartoon of Elon Musk with a contemplative expression and a speech bubble stating, "I will literally put a microchip in your brain." The bottom right panel displays a character with a beard, looking amused, and saying, "Lmao nice" in response to Musk's statement

Last week at the Human Amyloid Conference, I got the incredible surprise and honor to receive the Christopher Clark Award for my work on PET imaging in Alzheimer’s and related diseases. It means a lot coming from a field I literally grew up in. 🤓🥰🥳

Brain Imaging Setup: We measured the glucose metabolism throughout the functional connectome of the human brain (replication in three datasets using simultaneous PET/MR imaging). 1. Energy demand linearly scales with the degree of functional connectivity in individual brains.

Now that I’m supervising a few people, I think about this all the time. It’s very hard to find the right balance between trusting people and their work, and checking their work in detail. And of course there is the time constraint. 🤔😧

Alright, I’m finally leaving Twitter so I’ll start using this app for real. I hope it’ll be more similar to what I loved with the science Twitter I loved and learned so much from years ago. But first, wishing everyone a good break!
