Cambridge passed citywide multifamily zoning last year. Now, more housing is being proposed in wealthy neighborhoods that had previously been protected by exclusionary zoning. This is exactly as intended by the City Council, and a key step towards correcting the city's geographic inequality.

The 9 Wyman Road project is not a fluke, it’s a sign of successful multifamily zoning
A housing project at 9 Wyman Road in West Cambridge and the reaction from neighbors demonstrates why uniform, citywide upzoning is more equitable than fragmented, piecemeal zoning reform. Before the passage of Cambridge’s Multifamily Zoning last February, 9 Wyman Road was zoned exclusively for “single-family dwellings.” Now,... When asked how Marblehead should balance historic charm with new development, he is careful to say he is not an expert. Then he is not careful at all.

“This place isn’t nice because the houses are all old,” he says. “It’s nice because we’re very fortunate. It’s wealthy. It’s near the water. We’re not nice because there’s an old building with a plaque.”

“We’re not talking about skyscrapers,” he says. “We’re talking about townhouses. Three stories. If you put one next to a single-family house, what’s the difference?”

OOP New York Times got receipts on John Roberts being like, 'I know this isn't how anything works, but a Democratic president is about to implement a policy!!' www.nytimes.com/2026/04/18/u...
Screenshotted excerpt from linked article reading as follows:

"In public, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. has cultivated a reputation for care and caution. The papers reveal a different side of him. At a critical moment for the country and the court, the papers show, he acted as a bulldozer in pushing to stop Mr. Obama’s plan to address the global climate crisis.

When colleagues warned the chief justice that he was proposing an unprecedented move, he was dismissive. “I recognize that the posture of this stay request is not typical,” he wrote. But he argued that the Obama plan, which aimed to regulate coal-fired plants, was “the most expensive regulation ever imposed on the power sector,” and too big, costly and consequential for the court not to act immediately."

Blunt reality: Americans are not "taxed enough already." We aren't taxed enough, actually. Norway collects 31% of GDP as taxes. The United States collects 12% of GDP as taxes. That, not "military spending," is the real reason that Greenlanders have "free" health care and Americans don't.
