Clocks shouldn't be set up based on local popularity contests and subservient politicians. Standard time was created to avoid all the confusion when one travels and to avoid changing clocks to disrupt sleep patterns and health. We sorted this out in 1879 but now we're collectively stupider I guess.

Why on earth have we been meddling with clock times? A Canadian invented standard time and time zones so the local peak height of the sun would happen at 12 noon. This idiocy is still going on today. If you don't like school hours ending near dusk, then change school hours, not clocks!
